Just take a look of how much their goverment spent for prizes alone, in this military robotic competition. That was really encouraging! I wish our Ministry of Defence would do the same. Instead of just organizing a “stair climbing robot” competition, maybe we should have a military style robotic competition among students! Who knows, we may soon find out that, we have thousands of talented robot engineers outside there among malaysian!

Here is our next project. We are going to built a military style reconnaissance crawler known as ReconCrawler. Following are some of the succesful robot built to do different type of difficult task including wildlife photography and military reconnaissance mission.
The famous Burrad Lucas’s BeetleCam, cute outside, beast inside!
BeetleCam can be controlled and primarily designed to give the photographer one of the best way, to approach dangerous animal without putting them in the harm’s way.
I was very excited seeing our ReconCrawler showing-off its crawling capability. This 4WD crawler is extremely flexible and capable of going to the toughest terrain. The camera system is 100% waterproof and its amazingly lightweight. The ability to wirelessly transmit HD video directly on iPad is just amazing. This is not really an end, it’s a beginning of a new exciting world of robotic adventure! In the next few months, we will see some action shot capture through the lens of ReconCrawler!

Since you have been struggling a lot to master the programming skill for months, I think you just waste the skill you earned if you simply forget it and never think about bringing it to the next level. I think it’s about time to program a machine. Believe me, the knowledge you earned so far is more than enough to bring life to a robot!
I think we should start doing robotic programming here in our humble CloudClass, instead of just discussing hours and hours on stupid messages and outputs! I’m tired of these silly outputs! We really-really have to go beyond our Science Comp’s “SILLY-BUS” now!
What do you think boys ang girls?

Every five years, as stated under the law, every sailing ship must go under an extensive maintanance for inspection, overhaul and upgrading. I was very excited when a good friend of mine, maritime engineer Fazurin, invited me to document the pain stacking process of returning one of Tanjung’s ship back to the sea. Tanjung Offshore Sdn. Bhd. remains as one of the most important supporting company for Petronas CariGali Sdn. Bhd.
The ship has been docked there at Labuan Ship Yart, for nearly two months now, and finally she is now ready to serve Petronas for another five years of operation.
The idea is simple to said, but hard to be done, we will capture a two hours time lapse photographs of the whole process using DSLR. Then, we will combine the shots into one single HD video clip. Based on my visit to the location yesterday morning, I managed to sketch up some of the key shots I wish to capture. Here they are…
Following map show the flow of the process.
